Blergh (P2, D12)

Okay, FINE! I'll stop using mint toothpaste! I'll stop eating eggs. I'll stop using the Burts Bees lip balm with trace amounts of oil in it. I keep saying that I haven't cheated once, and I haven't. I haven't eaten one single thing not allowed by the protocol. But I have done these other little things that you aren't supposed to do that don't make sense to me, so I've been doing them and it's been fine. But I've had eggs two days in a row now (same calories as chicken, dammit) which seems to be the most obvious culprit. But I'm cleaning up my act on all these fronts just to be sure. Why not?

Meanwhile, GRRRR. I am back to the weight I was at 5 freaking days ago. Grrr. Does that count as a 3-day stall or do I have to actually be at the same weight for 3 days?

You'll notice I am not as eager to post early and often when I'm not losing four pounds a day!!

  1. I'm going to sound like a broken record, but I still think it's the scale. I used lipstick (I don't know what it has in it) and mint toothpaste, too, but I haven't had the eggs. Watch, I'll bet you see a big drop tomorrow. Although 4 pounds is scientifically impossible of course, unless it's water...I know you got it in the beginning, but again---THAT SCALE!

I don't know about counting a stall. I would just keep on going, change what you want to, but even with a wonky scale the net loss will eventually show up, just not in a nice, precise way.

Also, I am super-compulsive about how I weigh, when I weigh, whether or not I've gone to the bathroom first--everything.

My prediction is for something unprecedented tomorrow, like 213 or so. Even at 215 (which I don't for a minute believe is your weight) you've lost over 14 pounds in 12 days, which is pretty amazing.

The biggest thing I've found to help my morning weigh-in is lots of water the day before and no eating at all late at night.

But see, Kat, and I'm betting tomorrow on 213. 213! That will be 17 pounds in 13 days. See, you're right on track :)

  2. You are sweet and very supportive, Olivia. I hope you're right! I drank 128 oz of water today, did fish and tomatoes for lunch; steak and spinach for dinner. No mint, no oils.

I am compulsive about the way that I weigh too but I know for a fact that my scale is not precise. My friend K told me I should only weigh once a week since I know it's not precise, but I am wayyyy to neurotic for that.

  3. please, please, please let your rational brain half tell your emotional brain half that your loss is 14.6 +/- 3. a difference of 1,4 lbs cannot be measured on a scale with a 3lb variability. i know you know this, but i am just here to remind you (but you already know that)

    -k

  4. also, lest it go unnoted, 14.6 is still a fuckload of lbs for 12 days, even if it is a ballpark figure.
